Former MLB player waives hearing on drug-possession charge

PALMYRA TWP., PIKE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A former Major League Baseball player waived a preliminary hearing on charges of possessing narcotics during a traffic stop in Pike County.

MLB star Lenny Dykstra, 63, a resident of Scranton, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and of drug paraphernalia after state police stopped a vehicle where he was the passenger.

Troopers found drugs and paraphernalia in Dykstra’s possession during a traffic stop on New Year’s Day. Investigators say drugs were inside a bag Dykstra said was his and were seen in plain view.
