As part of the first round of grants through the state’s new Marketing to Attract Marquis Events program, $20,000 is being awarded to support the 100th anniversary of Lake Wallenpaupack. The funding will help with programming and event needs tied to the centennial.

Man charged with trying to traffic ten-year-old
PIKE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man has been charged with attempting to traffic and rape a ten-year-old child after he was willing to pay $200 to do so.Pike County District Attorney Ray Tonkin stated charges have been filed against Jayson Miller, 54, of Red Lion, York County.

$3 Million Awarded for Wayne & Pike Career and Technical Center
Funding for the long-awaited Wayne & Pike County Career and Technical Center was formally presented to school officials yesterday with a $3 million check presentation at Wallenpaupack High School. The investment supports development of the new regional technical school, which will serve students from the Wallenpaupack, Wayne Highlands, Western Wayne and Delaware Valley school districts. Wayne and Pike counties are currently the only two counties in Pennsylvania without a dedicated career and technical center.
Pike County Couple Charged with Attempted Sexual Intercourse with a Minor
A couple from Pike County has been charged after allegedly attempting to engage in sexual acts with a 15-year-old girl, according to the Pike County District Attorney’s Office. Officials say 31-year-old Cara Godbold and 31-year-old Nickolas Marrin-Youmans face charges after Godbold connected with a person she believed was 15 years old while seeking out a person to engage in sexual acts with her boyfriend, Marrin-Youmans. Detectives say Godbold also discussed recording the sex acts. The couple reportedly arranged plans to meet with the 15-year-old in Blooming Grove Township.
