Pike County bond rating being downgraded

State Announces Funding for Lake Wallenpaupack’s 100th Anniversary as Part of 2026 Events

Nearly $40 million in state funding was recently announced to support major events happening across Pennsylvania in 2026, including a local investment for Pike and Wayne counties. As part of the first round of grants through the state’s new Marketing to Attract Marquis Events program, $20,000 is being awarded to support the 100th anniversary of Lake Wallenpaupack. The funding will help with programming and event needs tied to the centennial.

I-80 project, data centers threatening Pa. wetlands, lawmaker says. Bill seeks new protections

A Pennsylvania lawmaker from the Pocono Mountains introduced legislation that would require wetland restoration to occur within the same local watershed where environmental damage takes place.Citing impacts of an Interstate 80 project in her district as well as data centers, state Rep. Tarah Probst said she is looking to address concerns that distant mitigation efforts fail to protect communities losing critical water resources.

1 dead after motorcycle crash, PSP say

PALMYRA TOWNSHIP, PIKE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — In Pike County, Pennsylvania State Police say a driver is dead after a motorcycle crash.Authorities say a small truck was leaving a parking lot on State Route 6 in Palmyra Township when the motorcycle, traveling at high speeds, hit the truck.The person driving the motorcycle went airborne upon impact and was killed.
